When defending the XCOM HQ the squad size is fixed at 6. It can be increased to 8 with Officer Training School upgrades as usual (though the prerequisites for the upgrades are a little different). So without screenshots it difficult to figure if your install is botched.Long Wars starting squad size is 6.

They actually patrol the map unless they hear noises or see dead bodies. And unlike vanilla, in LW pods aren't bound to the line between xcom current position and the objective. With enough infiltration most early missions only have 3-4 pods. However, flanking can be extremely powerful and low risk when other pods have been previously scouted. For better or worse, this is a thing in all new x-com games.

Tactical Sense in particular is fucking broken. The strategic layer is designed to never let you have a moment of rest, always pressing you harder and harder, punishing you if you aren't trying to surge ahead. The game is constantly rushing you, pushing you you're not allowed to take your time - it's even worse than the vanilla game is.The tactical layer enforces the timer limit beyond what it already is by having enforcements constantly raining on your ass, spawning directly on top of your squad, and severely nerfs XCOM's accuracy while doing nothing significant to balance it out on the enemy's side, then going on to cut down on the player's options for destroying cover. Less than perfect, but sometimes necessary.Because they bought way too hard into the whole "Guerilla warfare" thing. Finally, if you know the other pod is there you can still move in, introduce some poor soul to the business end of your shotgun and end up in good cover against the incoming enemies.

That being said, I don't need a tutorial what I need is an explanation of the mechanics I am expected to be aware of in order to play the mod, and in this regard the mod fails to deliver miserably. They could have very easily put in a tutorial. They can add content to it. It was built to be that way from the ground up. LW2 is here to impress me. Browse the wiki, search the forum, or make a post on here, there are a lot of people who'd be more than willing to help.I'm not here to impress LW2. I'm sorry, but "it was too expensive to add a few paragraphs explaining important concepts" doesn't fly.The information you need is all out there, you just have to put in a small amount of effort to find it. Long War 2 Review Mods That Make

Why go to the effort of making an entire sequel to Long War when players could just assemble their own Long War experience to their own personal tastes? Why subject yourself to the design decision of a developer as part of a larger mod experience when you could easily just design your own perfect game using mods?Indeed, even with LW1 people frequently made changes and tweaks in the. Part of why LW1 was such a big deal, other than being a shining beacon of modding achievement, was because of a lack of other choices.XCOM 2, on the other hand, has a myriad of mods that make any kind of balance change you can think of. It was built to be moddable. XCOM 2 is not the same game as EU2012 was. If I had been demanding the mod be made, and then started bitching about it once it was released, you might have a point, but before LW2 was announced, I was of the opinion that it shouldn't be made. In the time it would take me to figure out everything LW2 needs you to know, I could design my own mod pack and have way more fun with it than I would have had with LW2.But apparently that's too much to ask for some people and you'd rather whine and bitch about something that was provided to you for free.I never wanted LW2.

If you enjoy it, good for you have fun with it. LW2 was something I was hopeful about, even though I didn't want it, and it ultimately disappointed me, but that doesn't mean you should let that bother you. I love LW1, and I admire the mod team for having accomplished a feat like that with such limited resources.
